I make films. I make English longbows. I love the English countryside. Now in my sixth decade - including forty years in business and industry - I am learning new skills: the art of the film maker, the craft of the bowyer. My films on this channel will feature my love of the English longbow as well as the English countryside and occasional forays further afield. And since 2015 I have recorded in video my journey of self-learning as I teach my hands the skills needed in the making of Medieval style English longbows. I love exploring the forests and fields of the UK to find and harvest hazel, elm, blackthorn and yew which I work into bows - and with my cameras I try to capture the joy and heartache of learning these new skills I hope that my films inspire both young and old to go outdoors and take up the simple tools of the bowyer and make that most iconic weapon - the English longbow.
