He became so up-armored and heavy... the only thing he was afraid of was destroying his transmission, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his adversaries everything he knew, then his adversaries copied the good parts of his design after the war. It's ironic he could save others from damage, but not himself.
